Joshua Wilson

School Director

Joshua Wilson brings with him17 years of experience working in schools, including as a Waldorf school administrator, pedagogical director, development director, teacher, and administrator. In 2007, he co-founded Escuela Caracol, Guatemala’s first Waldorf school and the most established Waldorf school in Central America. Joshua carries a deep commitment to Waldorf education with experience as both a teacher and an administrator and he was particularly drawn to Camellia because of its emphasis on collaboration, relationships, and diversity. His experience, ideas, administrative skills, cross-cultural experiences, and commitment to faculty-led education have brought him to Camellia, and he is particularly moved by the deep love and commitment that the community has for the school. Joshua is excited to collaborate and be a part of shaping the future of Camellia Waldorf School.

Mr. Wilson joined Camellia in 2021 and is also a Camellia parent.

Janna Nygren

Jenny Woods

Admissions and Advancement Manager

Jenny Woods considers Camellia her second home and brings a bright smile and a “can-do” attitude to the school. She has a great deal of nonprofit experience that includes fundraising, grant writing, and event planning. She’s also well-versed in the ever-changing world of social media. A Sacramento native, Ms. Woods has an associate's degree in social science from Sacramento City College and formally studied early childhood education and women’s studies at California State University Sacramento. Ms. Woods loves being a mom and when not at Camellia or with her family, she paints, sews, gardens, and reads.

 

Jenny has been a Camellia parent since 2010 and is an alumni parent as well. She joined the Camellia administrative staff in 2019.

Celina Deitchman

Kate Burch

Operations Manager

Celina Deitchman received her BA in Performing Arts & Social Justice from the University of San Francisco. She has an eclectic array of experience as an educator that spans over ten years. Before taking a break from the professional world to be a full-time mom, Celina was a Summer Program Director for a STEM summer camp in the Bay Area. She also has experience teaching theater, cooking and various roles in the school and camp settings as well as aboard a tall ship. 

Celina enjoys cooking and exploring the outdoors with her family. She also loves to dance and attend live performances of all varieties. 

Celina is a Camellia parent and joined the Camellia staff in 2021.

Janna Nygren has a bachelor’s degree in American studies from the University of Hawaii Manoa and has formally studied early childhood education. She has more than 20 years’ experience working with children of all ages and has been a preschool teacher, special education classroom aide, and mentoring program coordinator. Ms. Nygren has also worked with non profit organizations as a program coordinator and grant writer. Her passion for working with children paired with her administrative skills have made her well suited to the many responsibilities of her position at Camellia.

 

Ms. Nygren has been a Camellia parent for more than 10 years and is delighted to be of service to the community. She joined the Camellia administration staff in 2016.

Kate Burch has a wide range of experience supporting non-profits. Prior to joining Camellia, Kate was the Director of Operations for International House Davis, supporting all back-office functions while enabling public-facing staff to focus on programming. Kate has also been the Business Office and HR Manager of Kevah, the Director of the California LGBTQ Health & Human Services Network, the Legislative and Policy Assistant for Health Access California, a Program Analyst for the Office of the Patient Advocate, a Community Organizing Resident with Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice, a middle school science teacher in East Los Angeles, and was a founder of Kol Rinah, a new Jewish community in Sacramento.

 

In her free time, Kate likes to sew, read, and play games.

Kate is a Camellia parent and joined the administrative team in 2022.

Hubert Bones

Grounds Keeper & Woodworking

Hubert Bones is a craftsman and woodworker. He has always enjoyed volunteering his time, sharing his skills, and making projects for the school. As the Woodworking teacher, he enjoys working with students of all grades, bringing new projects and opportunities for learning and growth. When Mr. Bones is not teaching, he is working to keep the Camellia campus beautiful and healthy, creating and maintaining our incredible grounds, and making sure it is as beautiful as it can be for the children to enjoy.

Mr. Bones is a Camellia parent and joined the administrative team in 2020.

Basira Borer

Advancement Assistant

Basira Borer loves her time at Camellia and is thrilled to work with the administrative team. Basira brings with her years of property management and a wealth of administrative experience, along with event planning and strong organizational skills. Basira's kind nature makes, attention to detail, and love of Camellia makes her an enthusiastic team member, ready to do whatever it needed to make Camellia shine. Basira works directly with our Admissions and Advancement Manager, Jenny Woods, supporting admissions and fundraising efforts. 

 

Basira is a current Camellia parent and joined the administrative team in 2022.
